30 Day Blogging Challenge Days 29 & 30

A confession?

I still listen to Spice Girls.
And I don't care either! I love rock music and punk, 90s and dance music and Spice Girls remind me of my younger years when I used to learn the dance routines and desperately wanted to be Ginger Spice! And I still know all the words and I was beside myself in excitement when they played the Olympics Closing Ceremony in 2012.

Your hopes for your blog?

I really hope I can get somewhere with it. I have a handful of followers on Google+ all of whom I'm grateful for and I would love some more. And to just keep on being able to have the motivation and products and ideas to blog about really. I enjoy doing it and connecting with other lovely bbloggers!

Can't believe that's the end of my 30 Day Blogging Challenge! I've really enjoyed it too :)

30 Day Blogging Challenge Days 27 & 28

What's in your closet?

I don't even have a closet! Can I count my wardrobe as a closet?
All I have in there are clothes and shoes and a few make-up bags.

Most embarrassing moment?

Ohhh I have plenty of these. Most embarrassing moment recently has to be from an evening last week. I was sat on a packed out bus on the way home from work and it was sweltering, and its the season for those pain in the arse flying ants.
So I was sat there reading my Game of Thrones book, which you have to note is 800-and some odd pages long so its HUGE.
So, reading away and I feel something land on my face and my first reaction was to swing this massive book up and smack myself clean up the side of my chops to get this flying idiot.
I had a huge red mark up the side of my face and a smudged flying ant, and fortunately a very nice lady behind me gave me a tissue to wipe the excess ant carcass off my face. very embarrassing indeed.

Your biggest regret?

You know I don't have a lot of these. I always think that things you don't do or say wouldn't shape the person you are or life you have today. I know people have said to me in the past "Don't you regret not staying on at college?" and I always say no, because in the end it wasn't what I wanted to do and I know I wouldn't have been happy staying there.
The only thing I regret which my brother will never forgive me for, is when I took him to see Oasis in 2009 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, we queued early and managed to get Gold Circle wristbands to get right to the front and near the end of the concert I was being crushed against the barrier so we moved back a few rows in the crowd and then later discovered that Liam Gallagher had walked along the front row and shook hands with everyone there.
My brother went mad about that! But I was being crushed by rowdy drunk blokes and couldn't handle anymore!

Your hidden talent?

I can sing. I used to be in a band called Sweet Sick Teen and I was the singer.
I love karaoke too and just generally belting a few hits out into my mop when I'm doing the housework!
I do love singing though, it can really uplift your mood and meant to be a good de-stressing exercise.

30 Day Blogging Challenge Days 23 & 24

If you won the lottery?

Oh god, I would be straight into MAC! Haha, other than that I would give Mark and our families some of the money I had won, I would help out a few friends, sell the flat and buy some holiday homes in Cornwall, Italy and Hawaii and I would travel all of the world.

What attracts you in love?

Eyes. The colour of the opposite sex's eyes can get me sometimes. The ability to make me laugh within the first ten minutes of us being together then I'm all yours. When I met Mark, (we actually met on Facebook, I knew his brother) we messaged each other all day and night and I think that's what made us perfect together because we had that instant connection which led us to speak for hours and by the second day of knowing each other, Mark was calling me on my phone and we were having like two hour conversations. We met up a week later and the rest is history I guess!

30 Day Blogging Challenge Days 21 & 22

What makes you sad?

Animal cruelty. infact, any kind of cruelty towards humans and animals, there's just no need for it.
Watching the news makes me sad too, and 50 First Dates turns me into a total wreck.

Your Worst Habits?

Smoking for definite. I also bite my skin on my fingers which is awful of me!
I tend to overspend a lot too which can be a bad habit and I always say
'man' in almost every sentence!

30 Days Blogging Challenge Days 19 & 20

What is your favourite movie?

I really love the Harry Potter Films but I can't chose from all of those and I can't do it with Lord Of The Rings either!
So I'm gonna have to go with Titanic.
I went to see it for my 10th birthday all the way back in 1997 and fell in love with the film and Leonardo DiCaprio too!
I was always interested about the Titanic, reading up on how the grandest ship in the world met its fate that night of April 14th 1912.
Its such a blockbuster movie and watching it now, it still gets me every time.

What makes you happy?

A lot of things really, spending time with Mark, being with my best friend Rachel, seeing my family, I love being around my Niece Ava and Nephew Logan.
I'm happy when I'm out and about visiting places, taking photos, listening to music, reading a book, messing around with my make-up and writing about it!
It doesn't take a lot to make me happy really!

Bourjois Paris Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick (Matte)

In my eyes just lately, Bourjois is brand that are totally hitting the nail on the head with their products, they simply can do no wrong.

In March this year Bourjois launched their Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick range and I was keen to get my paws on them.
Being a massive lipstick addict, I couldn't wait to try these out and these babies don't disappoint one bit.

For a start, these lipsticks are matte finish which is my favourite of all finishes.
They boast a soft, melting texture that glides onto the lips, giving a matte finish that leaves the lips smooth and soft as velvet.

I've been collecting these over the last month or so and I have six of these wonderful shades now, so today I thought I would swatch them on my lips, take some photos and get a little review up.

(L-R: Nude-ist, Peach Club, Frambourjoise, Ole Flamingo!, Hot Pepper and Grand Cru)

First up, the packaging.
The lipsticks come in a beautiful oblong, glass looking bottle with the lids being the same colour as the product in the bottle, which gives the impression that it is more high end than it is.

Application is great thanks to the foam doe foot applicator which gives precise definition to your lip line and hold quite a bit of product to spread evenly across the lips.

The formula is gorgeous, it really does just glide on and feels very soft on the lips, but I do recommend keeping your lips open for a little while to ensure the product dries and when it does, it's very impressive.
I find this lipstick doesn't dry out my lips and keeps them soft all day.
Some of the photos below the lipstick might look 'wet' because I never gave it chance to dry as I was keen to take the photos right away!

07 - Nude-ist.
As far as I'm aware this is a fairly new shade that has just been added to the line up, I never really get along with Nude shades, they either make me look too washed out or they're far too light for my complexion, but this particular Nude shade is a total game changer.
I'm sure you've all heard the phrase 'My lips but better' and this is what this shade does for my lips.
I love it and I'm so happy that I have finally found a Nude shade that actually suits me!

04 - Peach Club.
I've been quite weary but at the same time quite intrigued by a peach/coral colour for my lips, so I decided to be brave and pick this shade up.
I'm very impressed with how it looks on my lips, on my lips I find it a creamy light orange colour which is perfect for the summer.
Not as daunting as I expected it to be at all! I can see myself getting quite a bit of use out of this shade.

02 - Frambourjoise.
This one is so hard to pronounce, so I called it my Raspberry colour.
Really cute colour, lovely for sunny days.
This shade can be slicked over the lips once to leave a subtle stain or built up like in this picture for a bolder colour.

05 - Ole Flamingo!
It really does deserve that exclamation point at the end because its such a beautifully bold Fuchsia shade.
This was the first one I bought way back in May and I feel insanely in love with it.
I love layering this bad boy up for a really daring look and I've had so many compliments on it too!
Never been one for Fuchsia shades as I get too scared that it will be Barbie pink on me, but that's not the case with this colour.

03 - Hot Pepper.
I'm forever having some kind of love affair with red lipsticks, I have so many and its such a classic look.
Hot Pepper is a different kind of red to what I have in my ever growing collection, mainly because it's more orange toned. Not by much but you can see that its not the classic 50s red that so many of us adore.
Which isn't a problem because I really really love this shade.
I reckon teamed with cat flicks on the eyes, a generous helping of mascara and a swipe of pinky/coral blush this could be my look for the summer. Its just such a sophisticated shade that shrieks: "Yoooo hoooo look at me!" Totally head over heels for this one.

08 - Grand Cru.
Grand Cru is such a wonderful Berry shade that is amazing with one coat as a delicious stain or layered up for a more bold, defined look.
This is another fairly new shade that has been added recently and it really is to die for.
I looks as sumptuous in the bottle as it does on your lips.
I think this shade will be a firm favourite in my make up bag in the next coming months as we head into Autumn, maybe with just a slick of mascara and a contoured face.

The longevity of this lipstick is superb, although it does transfer onto whatever you're eating/drinking/kissing but fear not, when you panic and reach for the compact mirror the colour is still as fresh on your lips as much as it was when you first applied it.
And even with layering the formula doesn't crack or peel on the lips which is top marks in my books! And you really do forget that you're wearing it as its so light on the lips, no stickiness at all.
And they do last pretty much all day. I wore Ole Flamingo! from about 8am the one day, went on a day trip with my friend to Stratford-Upon-Avon and we had breakfast, dinner and drinks and when I arrived back home at 9pm the colour was still as vibrant as when I first put it on that morning.
I have to use two cotton wool pads drenched in Micellar water to remove this product. so that proves how good the lasting power is!

All in all I think Bourjois are onto a winner here with these lipsticks, they really look and feel like a high end brand but with a high street price at £8.99 each and they're on 3 for 2 at Boots at the moment, bonus!

You can buy Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks here.

As mentioned in my last post, I've been titting around on my movie maker and have created a trailer for this post on my YouTube channel which you can subscribe to here and here is the trailer for this post:

Montagne Jeunesse 4 Week Skincare Trial - Week One. *Video Blog*

About a month ago, I was browsing away on Facebook and Montagne Jeunesse were advertising for people to become their skincare ambassadors.
I was immediately interested and inboxed them to see how I would go about being an ambassador.

I'm a huge fan of these face masks, I usually pop into my local Asda every week to purchase one, two of my firm favourites have been the Passion fruit Peel Off and their Apricot Scrub, which smells good enough to eat!

So within the hour Montagne Jeunesse had inboxed me back with details on how to become an ambassador, like why I would be good for the role and what my skin type was and how I would go about advertising this role on social media networks.

I replied with the fact that I work in a factory five days a week. My pores becomes clogged with sweat, dirt, vapours and smells from the factory. I want a fresh look for my face.

I mentioned that I suffer with an oily T - Zone and that I find my skin can look dull at times.

I told them that I would be advertising this role on most of the social media networks I use, such as Blogger, Twitter, Facebook and Glipho.

About a week later, I had another message from them welcoming me on board as their skincare ambassador and that they would be sending me a package with a months routine of face masks to use.
I was so excited and last week I received the package in the post.

There was a lovely letter from Montagne Jeunesse inside along with four masks.
A black seaweed peel off, A T-Zone peel off and moisturiser treatment, a glacial clay spa fabric mud mask and a Brazilian fabric mud mask.

In the letter were instructions on which ones to use first (the list of masks above are in order of how to be used) and that I was to use one a week and report back to the company on how I was getting on.

That's when I decided I was going to start up my video blogs again. I'm going to be talking about the masks, what's in them, how to use them and me wearing them and taking them off for you.

So without further ado, here is week one of my Montagne Jeunesse 4 week skincare trial!

(Please excuse the really loud police car near the end!)

Where Will You Be In 5 Years?

Hopefully me and my fiancé Mark will have our first child together and fingers crossed we will be married too.
I hope that I will be in a different job too, either writing or photography.

Thoughts On Education?

I believe education is very important. I loved school and learning about things and I do think it makes an impact on your later life with employment and general knowledge.
I do hope they introduce lessons for students teaching them how to go about taking out a loan, banking, buying a house, taxes and general life studies.

2. Spaghetti Bolognese
3. Lasagne
4. Chilli Heatwave Doritos
5. Galaxy Caramel

Your favourite childhood book?

One that I have read over and over again is a book that my Mum gave me when I was about 5/6 years old.
It was the most wonderful book, which allowed my imagination to run wild.
It was Enid Blyton's The Magic Of The Faraway Tree.
The huge tree where all these funny folk lived, Moon Face and Mr Saucepan, and the different lands that appeared at the top of the tree every month.
I simply adored this story and I still read it now.

What is in your bag/wallet?

At the moment I am using my work bag, so we have my purse, my buspass, my I.D, my pen, a bottle of Soap & Glory Mist You Madly body spritzer, hairbrush, Garnier deodorant, paracetamol, ibuprofen, heartburn and acid tablets, headphones, keys, compact mirror and a Game of Thrones book.

Best trip of your life?

That is a really hard one to choose, I've been on so many trips.
I would have to say that travelling around the country in 2009 to see Kaiser Chiefs perform was the best trip of my life.
It started on the 22nd of February at Nottingham Arena and ended on the 6th of March at Wembley Arena.
I did Nottingham, Sheffield, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Liverpool, Cardiff and London.

I met so many great friends along the way and the lads were explosive each night I saw them.
I met them a couple of times after the shows and they were lovely and very gentlemanly, a real pleasure to talk to.

It also helped a lot to build my confidence and independence to be travelling so far and alone some of the times too in cities I had never been to before or knew my way around.

Me and Nick
Me and Peanut
Me and Ricky
Me and Simon
Me and Whitey

Maybelline New York Forever Strong Super Stay 7 Day Gel Nail Color.

That title is a mouthful and a half!

A mentioned in previous posts, I have an unhealthy obsession with nail polishes, I haven't counted my growing collection, but I know that I have to drag my bag of varnish along the floor, its too heavy to pick up!

After reading about Maybelline's Gel Nail Colour on Really Ree's wonderful blog, I decided to pick some up and try them out for myself.

They were on offer at Boots, buy one get one half price, and they're not a bad price either - £4.49 for 10ml.

I stood staring at these nail polishes for almost 15 minutes trying to decide which colours I wanted and even turned to a woman shopping next to me to ask which colours I should get, to which she replied: "I couldn't tell you, they're all beautiful"

Finally after a long debate with myself and picking up and putting back colours, I settled with two polishes:

I actually adore Nude Rose, it's the perfect dusky pink.

These babies are quite possibly the best nail polishes I have ever used.
The brush applicator is wide and flat, giving an even coat on the nail in one stroke. Never before have I had one brush hold so much product.
You can use only one coat of polish if you like, but if you're a fan of more opaque-ness I would recommend two coats, followed by a coat of top coat to really benefit from the polish lasting 7 days.

Here is Nude Rose on my nails, see how beautiful it actually is?!
I got around 5 days wear out of this after applying a top coat, the first three were a Friday, Saturday and Sunday and that included two days of full on housework, scrubbing/dusting/hoovering/mopping and the Sunday was spent with my family, playing with my niece and nephew, picking them up, playing football with my nephew, playing with the dog and the last two days I was back at work, handling machinery so by Tuesday the polish was chipping away at the tips.

I will definitely be purchasing more colours this weekend, I'm keen to try Orange Punch in the Megawatt collection and other colours Boots has to offer.

You can buy Maybelline New York Forever Strong Super Stay 7 Day Gel Nail Color at all Boots & Superdrug stores and here online.

You can also read Really Ree's review on the Megawatt Collection and the Pastels Collection here.
