My Top 5 Beauty Tips

I'm in no way a beauty guru, but I do love giving my tips on beauty related questions that friends and family ask me.
So I thought I would put together a post of my top 5 beauty tips - what I think works for me may work for someone else.
So, without further ado here are my tips!

1. Make time for a good skincare routine.
I've always been one for taking good care of my skin and that can be achieved with a good skincare routine.
My morning routine is a lot shorter than my evening routine, but I make sure its thorough.
I start with an effective cleanser, at the moment I'm using Soap & Glory Face Soap and Clarity 3-in-1 Daily Detox Facial Wash, which gently cleanses the skin with soft scrub beads. This leaves my face soft, refreshed and squeaky clean. I will then follow with an eye cream, serum and finally a day cream.
My Nighttime routine is a little more complex, I wear makeup for around about 9-10 hours on a working day and even longer if its a weekend or a special event. I always make sure I take my makeup off at the end of the day, no matter how tired you feel, you don't want the makeup you've been wearing to clog up your pores and cause spots.
I will start with Garnier Pure Micellar Water on a cotton wool pad and gently remove my makeup. There are a lot of Micellar waters out there at the moment, I swear by Garnier's version as it works well for me, removing my makeup quickly and effectively.
After I have taken my makeup off I use a cleansing oil to fully remove any makeup residue that is left on my face, I tend to you a warm wet flannel to remove the cleansing oil and then follow with eye cream and my night cream. Once a week I will use a face mask to keep my skin looking clear and healthy. I know it sounds a lot but trust me, your skin will thank me for it.

2. Invest in a good primer.
I can't live without my primer, I can't even remember a time before I started using primer, that's how much I dote on it.
A primer basically does what it says on the tin, it primes your skin before you put your foundation. Think of it as a base coat for your face.
I use Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Primer and this baby is my lifeline. It brightens and smooths the face and once I've put my foundation and concealer on my face has this wonderful glow to it. I will always recommend a primer to anyone who uses foundation a lot.
Other really great primers I have used in the past have included Benefits Pore-fessional Primer, Illamasqua's Matte Veil and MAC's Prep + Prime. All of these come with a quite expensive price tag but I don't mind paying quite a bit for something that will work on my skin.

3. Coco-Loco.
I've said it so many times on here or on my YouTube channel, something that I will forever swear by -  Coconut Oil. This sweet smelling oil is such a multi purpose item that I use for almost everything. I have a spoonful a day, I've been using it in baking, I use it as an intensive over night hair mask, lip balm, moisturiser, I melt it down and use it in a nice hot bath, I massage it into my cuticles when I give myself a manicure. It really is an all rounder and I will always recommend it to anyone! I get huge jars of it from Holland and Barrett, I always try to get the organic stuff. It's a bit pricey at £15 a jar, but they're huge jars, they last for ages and if you're getting so much use out of it then its worth it. You can buy from your local Holland & Barrett store or here.

4. Get yourself a Tangle Teezer.
I'm always trying to look after my hair as there is nothing worse than having a bad hair day, I don't know about you guys, but when I have a bad hair day, my day is just bad in general.
So last year I invested in a Tangle Teezer. For those of you who don't know what a Tangle Teezer is, its basically a detangling hairbrush.
The teeth on the Tangle Teezer gently detangles the hair providing shine and smoothness, and actually cares for your hair.
I love using this as after I have washed my hair and had it bundled up in a towel I get knots and tangles in my hair something rotten, so using the Tangle Teezer combined with a detangling spray, I'm not ripping hairs out of my head and damaging my hair.
It fits in my bag perfectly and I haven't looked back since. You can buy a Tangle Teezer in Boots stores nationwide or here on their website.

5. The Classic Red Lip.
I will always pass this tip on and its one of my favourites.
I think every makeup lover should have a red lipstick in their arsenal. To me, its an essential.
Find your true red colour, find out which shade of reds suit your skin tone. To flatter your skin tone.
For example, if you have warm undertones then orange based reds will work really well for you, if you have cool undertones then a blue based red will look very striking on you.
Also, if you pick the right hue of red lipstick it can make your teeth look dazzling.
A red lip can speak volumes, and for me really gives my confidence a kick, whether its paired with sexy 50s kitten flicks on the eyes or just a slick of mascara, a red lipstick in your makeup bag will do you wonders.
I have quite a few red lipsticks, but there is only one that has my heart and will forever rule the 100-something lipsticks I have in my drawer and that is MAC Ruby Woo.
This gorgeous red lipstick kicks ass and makes me feel a million dollars. Think Marilyn Monroe pout. That's how I feel whenever I slide this lipstick across my lips, the perfect crimson for me.

So there you have my 5 top beauty tips, I hope some of these inspire you to up your beauty game and I hope you enjoyed reading this, I really enjoyed writing this!

Until next time,
